Vegan Pie Crust Options For Any Recipe!

Hi Reader,

Pie season is officially upon us. πŸ₯§ And while I’m not above grabbing a vegan-friendly store-bought crust in a pinch, I have to admit, making your own can be surprisingly easy (and way more satisfying).

Over the years I’ve developed a few β€œnot-so-traditional” crusts β€” from my go-to almond flour version to a nut-free spin with sunflower seeds, and even a cozy oatmeal press-in crust that kind of tastes like oatmeal cookies.

I’ve shared a few notes about each crust below, plus some of my favorite pies to pair them with.

Best Vegan Gluten-Free Pie Crust

Since publishing this recipe in September 2019, I've heard from people all around the world who have made it and now love it as much as I do.

It's not just that it's gluten-free, vegan, and oil-free β€” I think the thing that surprises people the most is that something this EASY to make and wholesome, can actually taste so good!

Sunflower Seed Pie Crust

When the almond flour crust started getting a lot of visits, naturally I started hearing from people who needed an almond-free option. That's when this seed pie crust was born.

You can pre-bake it to use with no-bake fillings, or use it for pretty much any baked pie recipe.

Oatmeal Pie Crust

This one is the perfect quick and easy crust for no-bake pie fillings, like the tofu cheesecake pictured above, vegan key lime pie, chocolate pie, etc.

Think of it like a substitute for graham cracker crust.

The recipe calls for vegan butter, but you can even swap it for applesauce for a fat-free (or at least very, very low-fat) crust. πŸ™€ Oats to the rescue again!

Next, I'm thinking about making a Vegan Chocolate "Cookie" Crust.

In case you missed the Vegan Dirt Cups I shared for Halloween, the "dirt" made with black cocoa powder is where I got the idea to do an Oreo-style crust, withOUT the Oreos.

What do you think? Would you find that type of crust useful? πŸ‘ πŸ‘Ž Hit reply and let me know!

I hope you enjoy the recipes, and have a great rest of the week.
